Aw, hell no.
Kira is annoyed as she sits in the back of the taxi taking her and Hoshi to the arena, the night of their first match.
Kira: I knew this would happen. As soon as Nanook showed his jowly face.
Hoshi: He has a way with getting under the skin, doesn't he?
Kira suddenly glares at Hoshi as she looks on with faint amusement rather than outrage.
Kira: Why are you so calm? He called you dumb.
Hoshi: Kira, it's no secret that Nanook and I aren't on the best of terms. He said a lot of hurtful things about me leading up to our Overboard Match, painting me as a sexual predator but since then...he's largely just taken the odd potshot and that's what he's paid to do. It'd be pointless to whine about it. Anyway, I find it kind of amusing that he thinks I'm dumb...I've never heard that before.
Kira: Well, all he's done is get me mad.
Hoshi places a comforting arm around her younger sister.
Hoshi: Which is what he wanted. Kira, you can't just explode whenever someone talks smack about you, not in this business. I mean, take Jeffrey Hatemonger for example. He's been saying how one of us gave him a rare skin rash just by touching him. It's nothing new. If I'd quit because someone said something nasty about me, I wouldn't have lasted very long in this business. If I've been blessed with anything, it's a thick skin.
Kira: And not one that spreads diseases.
Hoshi tousles Kira's hair.
Kira: I can't help it. Every time I see his pudgy face, I wanna smash it. He could never handle that I am so much more charismatic and likeable than him. Now he seems to have got that bumpkin believing him.
Hoshi: Yeah, poor Billy.
Kira looks at Hoshi incredulously for a second.
Kira: Poor...Billy?
Hoshi: Well, yeah. You said it yourself that Nanook's feeding him all of this slander and he seems like a sweet kid. A little uncouth, but essentially a nice guy...I just don't want him to get manipulated.
There's an uncomfortable silence for a moment, which Kira decides to break.
Kira: Hoshi, don't get involved.
Hoshi: Well who else is gonna stand up for the little guy.
Kira: Hoshi, you are the little guy and have always been the little guy. You have enough on your plate being the perpetual underdog. Don't go thinking you can fix this. Anyway, what happened to Nanook's just a harmless goofball?
Hoshi: Well, name-calling is one thing but...manipulation?
Kira: Oh, why couldn't I have a normal sister?
Kira buries her face in her hands before we fade to later on. Hoshi and Kira are practicing in the ring, in their matching jogging pants and sports bras, as Hoshi holds the bottom of Kira's foot as Kira leaps up and executes a backwards somersault before landing on her feet. The two then face the camera.
Hoshi: So, Cid White's been awfully quiet leaving Billy, and inevitably Nanook, to fill the void. Billy, I meant what I said earlier. You seem like a nice guy and I really don't want you to get the wrong idea about me. I understand your reluctance to face me and my sister but you would be doing us both a disservice if you held back. Throughout my career I've actually fought more men than women and I can definitely handle myself. Nanook, let's just say he's got a grudge against me but I would never purposely leave him on an island to die. I put my honour on that, sir. Anyway, I wish you a good match and I hope that afterwards we can shake hands with respect. Kira?
Kira obliges and steps forwards.
Kira: So it'll be my first time in a match for quite a while tonight and I hope I'm not too rusty. Billy, Nanook's a liar. If you wanna get screwed over by him, well, I don't give a damn, but that moron deserves a good kick inthe teeth. Do I take pride in my appearance? Yes. but I never look better than when I'm spoiling for a fight and that's what you'll get when you tangle with me. Cid, seems like you've thrown this boy to the wolves and we're ready to hunt. Nanook, take a good look at Billy because I'm gonna be thinking of you when I tear into his face!
Hoshi tries to shepherd Kira away, Nanook obviously touching a nerve. Kira turns back to the camera and continues to talk as Hoshi lets her go.
Kira: Canadian X Pro, get ready. Because the Yakamoto Sisters are comin' and we're gonna tear down this house!
Kira smirks at the camera and Hoshi tries to not look too annoyed as we fade to black.
