(It was Greyson verses the world, Greyson verses the main event, Greyson verses the bad guys... I knew that didn't sound right, Greyson my old friend the man standing against the odds in CanX, the lone man who stood tall against the hostility and the outright villains of CanX. It just wasn't right to see him in that kind of a position, and like usual my common sense had nothing to do with my actions. Greyson stood looking at the open locker room of a some local gym in Canada, he was trying to keep himself busy and away from home. Ironic seeing as he had just become a father on the 13th and yet he had also become single again as well; it should have been one of the best days of his life, but once again fate threw my old friend a nasty fucking curve ball. For once though I kept my big mouth shut as things came crashing down around him. His phone was in his hand and he wasn’t in the mood to talk anymore, Candice his fiancé and the mother of his new born was on the other end.)
Greyson: No I’m through then Candice I won’t be pushed into any of this, god damn it when you first approached me with the whole marriage proposal or rather demand I was good with it, but then you had to push it into a we have to get married before our son is born, and that’s when I knew this wasn’t about us anymore, that it was all about what your parents wanted out of you and expect from you. I won’t do it, I won’t placate to anyone Candice…
No not even for that… don’t even think of going there with me, I won’t back down on that…
FUUCCCCCCCCCCK!
(Greyson slammed his cell phone into the locker room wall, and like all high quality cell phones it shattered into more pieces then would be worth fixing. Cracked screen back half way across the room and Greyson just standing there pissed off ready to tear someone’s throat out. He looked at me with that glare of his as if saying fine you want in, then fuck it all I don’t care anymore have it your way. Greyson was pissed and it wouldn’t be easy bringing him back to a calm state, I was pretty sure his entire world just went belly up, and he had only one way to distract himself… he would bury himself alive in the one thing he still did that allowed him to vent.)
(After about an hour of calming down, well more like an hour of not breaking anything else in sight Greyson and I set to work turning the locker room into the perfect set for an indy wrestling promo. All the classic set piece were in place, the open end of the locker room with a sheet hung up across the locker blocking them from view while showing off a rather nice looking CanX bed sheet logo’s and all as the backdrop for his promo. Greyson looks at the simple backdrop as he tries to focus on his match against Nascar Billy and the follow up with Brett Starr at Bruise Cruise, perhaps the determining match up after all between the two. Greyson was mad, life had just spun ass up backwards and he wasn’t about to let it slide out of his grasp not now. It took awhile before everything was set and Greyson was ready to cut a promo.)
Noble: You ready for this Grey?
Greyson: No, but what choice do I have, you wanted in and you changed that ridicules name of yours, so what’s the story Noble, you really ready to make this leap?
Noble: Anytime Grey, but this is your time, just get ready and let me know when you want the camera on.
(Greyson took a few minutes thinking and moving around trying to focus on the task at hand, preparing himself for this promo, he didn’t look focused at all as he gave me the go ahead. He stood off center so the CanX logo was clear on the backdrop behind him the feeling was all there; it had the feel he had been aiming for that sometime indy fed internet promo feel, a simple backdrop and nothing but someone standing in front of it. No frills and flashy shit to distract the audience from the center of attention, the wrestler prepared to cut a promo.)
Greyson: This week Nascar Billy steps into the ring with me, Nascar Billy now here’s a guy with all kinds of respect for the business and even sadly a mistaken belief in the women of the business. Don’t get me wrong a woman is a woman and should be treated delicately and with respect, but that is where the line ends Billy. You see women in wrestling aren’t women any longer the forfeit the rights granted them on a normal daily civil bases. Now you have the makings of a decent wrestler in you, I mean you’ve been under the watchful eyes of Cobalt of all people, a women in the industry who would just as soon break a man in the ring as shake his hand. So it strikes me a bit odd that you seem to be reluctant to step foot into the ring with a woman, let alone the likes of Hoshi and Kira; hell much like Nanook I’ve had my ups and downs with them, but make no mistake you got lucky playing the gentlemen out there against them. Those two are man eaters make no mistakes about it, with a laundry list of ex’s in this sport that rivals some major franchises talent pools. Again you made a mistake out there against them, and nearly blow the match entirely, now I’m not going to say hey good job you won, when you nearly screwed yourself out of both a win and yourself respect out there against to championship caliber opponents.
But let’s move aside from that shall we Billy, you and me this week is in truth the biggest match of your career to date, true words indeed but words that hold a great meaning for you. If you can win, not only do you sky rocket out of mere rookie and tag team standings, you’ll have beaten a former multiple time world champion. A man who has been set against the odds since day one, but then again you won’t get past me this week Billy, not inside the ring, my gloves as it were don’t exsist. When I step foot inside a wrestling ring for a match I stop seeing the man or woman across from me as an opponent, all I see is someone who has to lose, another person in my way trying to stop my progress. Let’s face it when it comes to the ring you have to be impartial, you have to go in with the knowledge that on any given day you could be in the ring against anyone man, woman, child, enemy, friend, or god knows what. Hell I once heard of a circus bear that wrestled in a major promotion some ten or so years ago. Fact is Billy you have to have more aggression inside the ring, it doesn’t matter who you face off against; it doesn’t matter what you believe or how your morals stand. If you want to succeed you have to let go of being a nice guy inside the ring, pal there is no such thing as a friendly opponent. No matter how much respect you have for the person across from you, once that bell rings all the respect in the world amounts to shit. Now I see a bright future for you here, if you keep going the way you have Billy, but not at my expense this week will be a lesson in futility and the facts of life for guys like us. In fact after I’m done with you this week you might even go on to being a shooting starr in the business.
(Greyson stopped that glint in his eye, the taunt he just laid out to Brett Starr, the insult in using one of the man’s own catch phrases for another wrestler to strike at his pride. Greyson turned his head knowing that Starr would take the bait, unable to resist,)
Greyson: So there we have it, putting aside my match with Nascar Billy I’ll get straight to the heart of the subject, Brett Starr… Brett Starr…
Where do I begin with the man known as Brett Starr, Legacy Champion, undefeated in CanX, the man enjoying his fifteen minutes of sunlight in the main event and the company’s top tier. A man who I not only beat for the Legacy Title he weaseled out of my hand, but also the biggest coward in the company. Starr runs around talking shit to everyone with ears week in week out, knowing full well that he doesn’t have the moxie and balls to stand up toe to toe and face to face with anyone who can and has beaten him. Starr come out swinging since day one here and what has he done to show for it.
He hasn’t lost a match yet, fact; but again he hasn’t beaten every opponent that he has been in the ring with. Myself I beat him for the Legacy Championship, he holds due to his friends intervention, Tiami Tyler, wasn’t beaten by Brett Starr either; the truth is I laid her out and left her for the easy three count. Starr dropped the ball there as well, then again last week Starr and Madison beat a man I left for them to beat in the ring. So yes they are undefeated inside the ring, but they have yet to actually earn their victories over me; and don’t think that my letting you have a victory makes a statement in your favor. The truth is I am the one pulling your strings in our matches; I am the one making the decisions on who wins and who loses, and it was my decision that the two of you maintained your undefeated streaks last week.
Madison, for the record I’m not done with you yet, but let’s face facts of the two of you Starr is the one who actually matters here, you are just the side show and in time you’ll come to realize the truth as well. But Starr you are the one I am coming for, you are the one with the over inflated ego and the mouth that keeps writing checks your ass can’t cash. Let’s face it you are the one who more or less stole the Legacy Title from me, and that is a situation I will soon remedy, Bruise Cruise will be the night you get what is coming to you. But let’s take a look at what you have in store for you this week a ladder match for the Legacy Championship, you are going once again to step into the ring and defend my title, the belt I clearly won, if not for your over compensation at ring side. But wait, wait…
You get to square off against the company’s underdogs and the men who have earned shoots at the Legacy title, men who have earned the chance to compete against the true Legacy Champion, Greyson Blaze. Men who are being denied the real competitor they should be in the ring against, and why, because of a minor technicality. You have Kaden Kessler, someone who seems to have a fetish or some such for you, who may very well just help you retain the title instead of trying to win it from you. Let’s face it you two seem to have more going on than just being wrestlers, and I for one wouldn’t be surprised if these three men Madison included along with little Travis Twit don’t try for a power play at Bruise Cruise, hell they might even try to cement themselves as the companies law and order this week. But hey they can do all the power plays they want, I for one will just do what I always do be twelve steps ahead of power addicts. Is this a declaration of my intents towards them, no not yet, I have yet to decide if I’ll allow them to run wild or if I will step in and put them in their place. You see guys like the three of you are very useful to a man who knows how to work the business, you three are for the moment good for business and good for me. So I let you maintain your precious positions at the top of the company, and I will let you maintain some of your dignity, but there is a price for what I am allowing you three to do. And that price is your titles, one by one I will be coming for them, your undefeated streaks I will aim to end as well, but you never know when someone else will get the opportunity first and end them first. Let’s face it you just aren’t good enough to maintain your streaks until I come to end them; whether or not Kaden is with you or not makes little difference as well, the three of you or even just the two of you alone; either combination that comes just doesn’t measure up to me.
(Greyson points to the CanX logo behind him letting the camera focus in on the logo for a moment, before redirecting his words.)
Greyson: Normally this would be where I play the part of the innocent bystander the guy with nothing to do with all the bullshit and devious workings going on in the company. But let’s face it, my ego is far too big to be placed next to those three men, and that is the one mistake they will have failed take into consideration when they formed this little boy band of theirs. Greyson Blaze the New Tomorrow, is a game changer… and when I go to war against someone…
Well the rest is history!
Mark my words you cross me I will break you and that goes for you as well Travis… keep out of my way and you and your boy toys will survive, cross me and I will end you, your boys, and all the hype you ever hope to build as well.
You know what, fuck it, I think I’m going to come out and make sure this ladder match ends fairly this week…no more screw job wins for Brett Starr.
(Greyson smirks as he leaves off with that open threat as to his intentions this week for the Legacy Title, as I turn off the camera I can see it in his eyes, he has a plan, a long term goal something that will change CanX and the face of the Wrestling world once again. That’s the Greyson I know, that’s the Greyson who was labeled the most hated man in professional wrestling. That was clearly going to be the start of something big.)
